AKM Steels is a specialist tool steel supplier and stockholder based in Sheffield. In 2020, Bird Stainless Steel purchased AKM Steels and it now sits as a sister company to Bird Stainless Steel, an existing Get Fletch client.

AKM Steels is a specialist tool steel supplier and stockholder based in Sheffield. In 2020, Bird Stainless Steel purchased AKM Steels and it now sits as a sister company to Bird Stainless Steel, an existing Get Fletch client.
The Website
We used the exact same WordPress theme as the Bird Stainless Steel website so that no training was required for the team at AKM, enabling them to hit the ground running by being able to update the website quickly. We designed a new website from the ground up, focusing on the existing analytics and search console data to make it super-easy for customers and potential new customers to find the information they required. The AKM team liked the new design of the website so much that the company’s new branding was updated to incorporate the extended colour palette our designers had introduced.
One of the biggest challenges with the AKM Steels website was the tables. Using tables on any website is particularly challenging in web development, as getting tables to work on both mobile and desktop is tough. We tested a few different table plugins, and TablePress worked best.
